New Stack

Today, with any luck I will have time to pour over a new stack of magazines and delight at the glossy pages with a glass of red in hand. This is perhaps my favorite thing to do, after reading the online versions, picking the one's I would like to have actual copies of ,rushing off to Chapters and buying a tower of fashion books. Every month the selection is slightly different, but the basics are there: one international vogue, one street wear based mag, and one design oriented one. The truth is, I am not a loyal reader of any particular magazine, I have had subscriptions in the past, and found that some months left me unsatisfied, some issues too skimpy and other times the fashion spreads emphasized trends that I had no interest in. I am sure after today I will have much to report on!

Chanel and Cat Power

Rumors are that Ms. Chan Marshall will be the new face of Chanel jewelry. This all came about in one of those indie-rock fairytales that one never hears anymore: girl smoking her 18th cigarette of the day, sitting atop Louis Vuitton luggage meets the Prince of Chanel and is whisked away into a magical media frenzy surrounding her possible new campaign. Quite lovely and yet I hope that it is nothing more than that, a fairytale. It is well known that pedantic Karl Lagerfeld likes to get his thin little fingers into every element that surronds the house that Coco built, and yet on this account I am not sure if Mademoiselle would agree with this choice. I realize that Ms. Marshall may in fact be the sexiest women in Indie Rock, but let us not forget who held this title before her: http://www.fimoculous.com/images/kimgordon.jpg.
Lovely for the Indie world, and yet sadly not the face of Chanel.

Best Lil Tees on Queen Street!

American Apparel may have reigned as the default cotton t-shirt, and I've personally owned 100 in the past decade, but once I found these I must admit that I have officially switched. The Alternative Apparel tee is made of the softest combed ringspun cotton I have ever touched, it feels delightful on the skin. The fit is much nicer than the American Apparel tee, I found that American tee's were slightly boxy, even the classic girl was made to be quite boyish. The Alternative tees provide a clingy and softer fit. The best part is they are only $25 a pop, so getting the basics is made quite affordable. I found these at Sydney's on Queen Street West, however since than I have found that they do have a website, its horrid and doesn't do justice to the brand but you can order them from there.

Miu Miu and Lindsay Lohan

Okay, I know that I am late in my comments as these photos were released days ago(A fashion decade!) but I have noticed that everyone comments on how great Lindsay looks and how the ad is saved by the fact that you can't really tell its her. Well, this may be, however we still know that it's good ol' firecrotch hereself! I wonder why on earth she was chosen to do these ads, it made me think that it was most likely due to her celebrity factor, and yet what has she done lately to contribute to that fame, shown her vagina?
Overall, I am not impressed, Lindsay or not these photo's look like stills from Madonna's Hollywood video which make then completly unoriginal in concept.
